Yesterday I went up to the Ice Castle in Cripple Creek Colorado. It was a really cool place, and totally different then what I expected as I had visions of some of the Upper Midwest Ice Castles which are built out of bricks of Ice. This was more like you were up in the mountains with naturally made castles of Ice. So there was lot's and lot's of icicles and other formations of ice.
I tend to always shoot wider landscapes, so this was a fun exercise in that I spent a lot of time with more intimate scenes. I also did get wider images, but it was the smaller views that I was really enjoying.
This is one looking up. It's lit up with natural backlight from the sun. That was another surprise, as the castle gets lit up at night with lights, so I thought that it would be the most magical looking. And it did look awesome at night, but I think it might have been the daylight time with the clear sky and the sun breaking through that really turned on the magic.

PS. I am packing up to head to New Mexico in the morning, so hopefully I can get some more photos processed and also a couple of video's from there.
