These chick were about 4 to 5 weeks old and were photographed on May 14th. On May 12th I photographed another heron pair mating and was able to watch the chicks right after they hatch until they flew out of the nest. There were 4 heron nests in this area and this last one gave me the best angle to follow the development of the chicks and the parents feeding panic as they tried the keep up with the always hungry chicks. One of these days I will post some of the chronology from conception to flight.
Thanks Jim for the comments, appreciated! I have a series of images of the heron chicks right after hatching right up to the time they flew out of the nest. And some part of the process in 4 different nests, that were located in the park where I was shooting!
There is an issue with Uploading Photos (attachjments). I am not sure what the problem is, and I am looking into it. You can still try to Create your Threads and Upload your Photos, but it is hanging up during the Upload.
