Thursday’s Task: Drone or Phone used in landscape capture.
While I don't fly a drone and seldom use my iPhone, I've seen many beautiful images posted in this forum using these two methods of capture.
My iPhone examples below:

Ben Morton Overlook, Newfound Gap Rd., Great Smoky Mountains National Park, TN (iPhone 7)

I like the topic....

Two nice examples of phone photography. I think of mine as an always in my pocket camera that can produce some surprisingly good images.

I have some images shot with the model of drone in your task image from a sunset last night I will work up

I don't normally take cell phone landscape photos. Here are a few from drones that I started using last year.

Falls on Panther Creek (not the main Panther Creek Falls) not visible w/o a drone

Jameel, three wonderful drone images—love the viewpoint it provides. It’s difficult to choose a favorite among these beautiful choices. Perhaps the Bentonite Hills image…or the Skyline Overlook—both are special. Of course the Panther Creek is very nice as well—love the small branches of green leaves above the rushing water beneath.

A couple of drone images taken from directly over my house in Vancouver.

The first is a sunset image from Tuesday evening. This is a 3 panel panorama taken with the 24mm Hasselblad camera on my Mavic 3 Pro drone.

I consider my iPhone to be my primary camera on rainy/windy days where trying to handle my DSLR would mean endless wiping trying to keep the face of the lens dry. On the flip side the iPhone is moderately water resistant so I have little concern about yanking it out to shoot in a downpour. This is from a very windy day at Shore Acres State Park along the Oregon Coast with some 30' swells offering a wave show:

Great images Alan—gorgeous drone images and the iPhone is a great choice for this wave capture given its durability and water resistance! iPhone’s (and other brands as well) have definitely improved in features and resolution. Our current 11Pro iPhones will hopefully be replaced with the iPhone 15s this fall.

You are so clever in the selection of your tasks, John. Thanks so much for doing this each week.

When I am out photographing and I want to send something to a friend I will take an iphone image rather than wait until I can process the image and email it when I get home. Here are a few examples from this spring.

Beautiful and “quick” images Doug! I’ve also taken iPhone shots that I’ve also taken with my Nikon, so I may share them with my wife when I return to the car where she’s waiting. Love all three images you’ve shared especially the San Carlos Apache reservation. I love the Picacho Peak Park images as well—both are well composed, good color too.
