Ah! the choices. All from the English Lake District
2 images of Derwentwater in totally different conditions
I often scan the forecasts hoping for inversions
I was asked by the Royal Photographic Society to pilot a new scheme where a local photographer showed members of the society their area and take them for a shoot. When the day dawned the weather was shocking but I had 20+ photographers showing up so dressed for the Arctic.

Not a lake but a Loch at least that is what the Scots call them , this is wee Loch Hakel with Ben Loyal in the background on a beautiful summer morning shortly after sunrise. I was eaten alive by midges.

Beautiful lake/loch Ian with a nice reflection as well. I like the sparse vegetation in the foreground yet does not intrude into the reflection—nice composition. Welcome to FocalWorld.

Beautiful choices Alan, perhaps my favorite is the Reflection Lake––well named in this instance! Gorgeous image.The sunset over Vancouver Lake is another special image––love the sky and its reflection on the lake.

Here are a few for my contribution.
Maybe stretching the concept of lake as this is Hudson Bay on a trip to Churchill Manitoba to see Polar Bears.
Yes a lake but in the middle of winter when frozen over.
An experiment with one minute exposure after sunset in Waterton National Park.
Vermilion Lakes in Banff National Park.

Trent, thank you for “stretching the lake concept” to include all these images! I like the energy captured in your Hudson Bay image and it was nice to see the three bundled-up individuals walking on “winter water” in your second image! My favorite was the Vermilion Lakes in Banff—a truly beautiful capture!

Bob, beautiful images from Glacier National Park—my favorites are your first and last captures you’ve shared. I especially favor the first landscape—great composition with the small island centered midst the grandeur of the lake, mountains and sweeping sky. Very nice.
