I love the collapsing cabin in the last image John.

Not a lot of flat in my area but I'm good if water works for this theme :)

Beautiful “flat” series—it’s difficult to choose a favorite. And yes, water definitely is a good “flat” interpretation—especially calmer water! I love the Badwater sunrise image and the stunning Harris Beach image as well. I also favor the second Beverly Beach image—love the cloudscape and its reflection! Thank you for sharing this collection.

I don't really do "flat" - I tend to like mountains and rushing water. How about something with the word "flat" in the name? Here are a couple of shots of Flathead Lake.

1) The bay was frozen, so this should qualify as flat.

Great images Kyle! Love your inclusion of Flathead Lake, perfect images!

I am a mountain guy and don't have many flat images. I hope this one from the Sanddunes qualifies! ;)

and this one from Taylor Park.
Larry, love the Great Sand Dunes image—perfect for the task and a beautiful image (I used this park in the introductory illustration). The Taylor Park image is also a complete image—beautiful and prominent clouds above the distant blue mountains and lake with the warm fields foreground—nice!

I live in a very flat place. Many people dread driving across Saskatchewan while on a cross Canada trip as it has a reputation for being boring. For me it means I looking for beauty in different places and rarely does it disappoint. Few places have skies and huge vistas with wonderful pastel colours that rival Sask.
Here is a small sample.

Trent, lovely landscapes—you’ve definitely illustrated beauty is often discovered beyond traditional landscape subjects. I especially favor the second image—nice composition.

I don't do flat simply because they are hard to find in a rather undulating landscape. My computer is playing up and will not let me post pictures, something to do with C and D drive priorities, while waiting for a fix for it I am filling up my card with more bird shots. In any case, I don't care for landscapes unless there is an interesting foreground, they tend to bore me, I prefer the Constable painting type of scene, Each to his own.

Jon, I’m aware that every task will not be as popular as another, but I’m “tasked” to post a new theme each Thursday aware that some members may not have appropriate images—but hope some will. I’ve enjoyed the posts this week and appreciated everyone’s images.

This is an interesting topic, John that can lead to a bunch of different interpretations. My images are flat walls with petroglyphs or pictographs.

This is a fairly flat wall in a remote area of Arizona that has colorful handprint pictographs. This image shows over one hundred handprints on the wall alone and some on the boulders at the base of the wall. This panorama doesn't even show the whole wall. There are over two hundred covering the extent of the whole wall.

John,
You always come up with subjects I think I have, but then I look and have a severe shortage of. So that's good as it then makes me rethink when i go shoot.

Doug, great interpretation of this week’s theme—love these pictographs you’ve shared. It’s especially nice that one of them is nearby your home!

Craig, love these “flat” landscapes (and titles)—great interpretations of this week’s theme! I especially favor ”An American Landscape” for the distinct layers of composition—and bison. “Sunrise Anew” is another especially nice landscape for its composition and color—nice! Of course “Autumn Cliche” is a gorgeous image and another landscape perfectly captured.

Douglas, that final petroglyph of the rams looks familiar. Is that in Capitol Reef?
