Larry, a very nice collection of very nice "rocky" landscapes––and thank you for sharing each! I love the Red Rock Lake image for the perfect reflections. Very nice. I especially love the Red Rock Park image for the wonderful composition. Perfect, and a favorite. The Dead Horse Point image is so well captured showing such gorgeous colors and a definite favorite too. Very nice. Of course Balanced Rock is a perfect choice for this week's Task, and a beautiful image you've captured too––with the moon too! Another favorite! I like the composition of the last image too, with the prominent rock formation creating a well balanced composition. Thanks again for sharing each of these rocky landscapes!

Beautiful images Alan! I love the “ocean rocks”—especially the sea stacks in your first image with the waves crashing against it. Very nice and a favorite. The Harris Beach composition is another favorite of rocks only against the sea and sky. Love this minimalist view in your composition. The Petra Palace Tombs is a beautiful architectural composition as well. Nice. The Lewis Lodge is another very interesting “rocky” image. Very nice as well. It’s always nice to see an image of Spider Rock—especially this one! The Bisti is another wonderful image—love the bands of color and the red rocks scattered about the formation. Thank you for these wonderful “rocky” images Alan!

Craig, gorgeous images you’ve shared—thank you so much. I love “Jumble” for its name—and the perfect composition. I love the Church Rock image for the composition and colors captured of the rock and beautiful clouds beyond. “Around the Bend” is another perfect composition, that foreground rock certainly creates much visual interest in this image. “Rock of Ages” (perfect title) is a definite favorite and gorgeous in all respects. “Twin Peaks,” once again a perfect composition is perfect image in title and composition as well. Definite favorite. “Spirit in the Sky” is my most favorite for the perfect capture the red rocks, blue mountains, and the sky with lightning beyond! Perfect!

Some different rocks...

1) Tenaya LakeSunset - these little rocks always seem to find their way into my Tenaya Lake photos. In this case, I wish they weren't so centered, but the rest of the composition works for me so I am living with it. You could also say that there are some really big rocks in the background.

2) Lake McDonald is famous for its colorful rocks. This vertical composition attempted to get more of them into the frame. I elected not to super-saturate them like the influencers do...

3) I really liked the way these rocks led into the Vikten coastline in the Lofoten Islands.

4) And of course my favorite rocks are on Bowling Ball Beach

Kyle, very beautiful “rocky” landscapes—all four images are very well composed with superb light captured in each. The Tenaya Lake sunset is a good example, and the smaller rocks (with reflections) do contribute to this composition––very colorful sunset captured too. The Lake McDonald image is a truly beautiful composition with the majestic mountains and elegant clouds––doubled via their reflection partially obscuring the small rocks below. My favorite. Of course as soon as I typed that I must add another favorite seen below it, the Vikten coastline. Gorgeous in all respects and another favorite. The Bowling Ball Beach certainly deserves much praise as well—very, very nice! Thank you Kyle for sharing each of these lovely landscapes!

Jameel, thank you for sharing these five well composed “rocky” landscapes. The Arches NP image‘s foreground balances well the distant background. Love the rocks! The Big Sur image with the ocean’s blues and greens against the orange rocks works well—a favorite and a nice composition too. The Glacier NP image is a well-framed great depth of field image. I love it from “near to far” with the rocky shore featured. Very nice. Perhaps my overall favorite is the Trillium Lake—a beautiful composition featuring the well framed rocks framed leading the eye to the majestic mountain beyond. Love the predominant blues captured and my overall favorite. Very nice. And the Smith Rock image is very nice with the red rocks framing the beautiful sky above. Thanks again for sharing these Jameel!
