View looking north along the Dempster Highway, an eight hundred kilometre long gravel road that ends at the Arctic Ocean in Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories.
Several in Dawson City, one at the start of the road near Dawson then the next is about 400 kilometres up the road. Advised to carry two spare tires as well and fuel cans.wow. how far is the nearest gas station?
scary. It reminds me of a photo I took while driving through the Australian outback with my wife in the early ’80s—back when there was no GPS or cell phones. The Avis Suzuki had two gas tanks, and the rental office instructed us to stick to the planned route. If we didn’t reach our destination within a set number of hours, they would send a plane to locate us. They even provided us with a bunch of flares for emergencies.Several in Dawson City, one at the start of the road near Dawson then the next is about 400 kilometres up the road.
