Tortoiseshell butterfly

Had a torrid time stacking my images of this butterfly so had to cut my losses and crop most of it out. I’m having to manually focus bracket as my camera doesn’t have focus bracketing natively so that’s potentially what they are not behaving when stacking. Still, enjoyed being out there today 🌲 🌺 🦋

You did get an excellent level of detail out of what you present here.

My usual M.O. for something like this is a telephoto lens with an f/stop of around f/11 to get a reasonable depth of focus out of a single shot. Focus stacking with something like a butterfly needs a rapid fire /refocus to get enough shots for a workable stack. My camera can do a fast focus stack but it's not something I have spent a lot of time trying to master.
