Trillium cuneatum

I posted a shot of these plants last spring and it appears I misidentified them as Trillium angustipetalum. After a bit more research I think the correct ID is Trillium cuneatum. My wife planted these quite a number of years ago and it appears the plant really likes it in this area and has gone feral at this point. This shot is from a couple of days ago when we got a clear day after quite a bit of rain. When the blooms are fully out they will have reddish colored petals in the center.

Very interesting looking plant. I haven't seen this anywhere. Are the dark patches on the leaves normal?
Thanks Jameel - for the longest time I didn't even realize these were flowers to be honest since it doesn't really look like trilliums I was used to spotting in the forests. The variegated leaves are normal for this plant. I like the way water beads up and clings on the leaves and bud shoots.

Thanks Beth - they seem to like the weather around here as this group was planted almost 10 years ago and is still thriving.
