Two sides of Balances Rock

The Balanced Rock in the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, and is a very popular tourist destination in the park. This is from one of the rare time I have been there when there were no people climbing on the rocks at the base of the rock pretending to hold or be lifting up the rock. If you look closely you can see that cement has been placed under the base of the rock to stabilize it and prevent it from falling over.

Added this image with 2 people standing under the rock to give it some scale; it is a big hunking rock!

Gravity will win. The only question is when. Nice you got a chance to shoot it without instagram types infesting the scene. I can see why this would be a popular feature.

Indeed Alan, gravity always wins! . In all the time I have gone to GOG, very few were without the instagram types crawling all over the rocks!

Thanks Jameel for your comments. I think the cement placement around the base reduced the precarious nature of the rock.

Finding no one climbing on and around the Balanced Rock was a rare occurrence, I guess I was very lucky.
