I wandered out into my rather soggy backyard yesterday in between showers and discovered a tiny spot of color sticking up in the middle of the ground cover.

Usually I see crocus blooms first in our yard but none have put out a bloom yet.

C&C always welcome.

Thanks Jim - I wasn't expecting to see this when I wandered out between showers as we usually see crocus blooms first every year. I haven't see any trace of those yet. Hard to find much in our yard right now that isn't covered with water drops

Thanks Jameel - not really all that early for this particular variant of Crocus. It's called a Snow Crocus (Crocus chrysanthus) and is known to bloom a couple of weeks before other variants of the crocus family. I just looked back at last year and have shots of a cluster of these in full bloom on 1/30/24.

We were supposed to get some snow showers today but happily that mostly went both north and south of us and left us with sun breaks.
