Watching the Milky Way

This one is from Zion and the bridge looking towards the Watchman. Fortunately at 2am in the morning there was no one to kick me off. It was super windy, so the trees and leaves definitely lose definition in this one. I could use a twilight shot with more leaf definition, but I really prefer 1 shot night shots as most of your know. So I like to think of the ground layer in this case as a more painterly feel. :)

Not the usual Watchman bridge shot - very nice twist on this iconic scene. The lights of the town do a neat job of illuminating the cliff faces.

Wow Jim upper neat. I once tried a shot from there during a full moon hoping to get the face of the Watchmen lit up but was not successful as the alignment was off.

I love the way the Virgin River is lit and the trees look fine to me for a night shot.

Yeah, I like the way the face of the Watchman gets lit up here at night. It’s kind of funny in a way that my sunset shots don’t have the face lit up, but the night time shots do.

Nice Jim. There are plenty of night shots with blurry foliage due to the long exposures. I kind of like the feeling it adds when it happens.

Very nice, Jim. I was hoping for a similar shot when I was there in March, but it just rained & rained.
