Waterfall Wednesday 12/20/17

It's Wednesday and time for more waterfalls.

This is my all time favorite log-stuck-in-a-waterfall shot - Sol Duc Falls. Relatively low water flow in early August but just right for showing off the features of the topography. The sun had just set so the light was ideal for being able to see down into the shadows.

Add your own waterfall images if you have some.

I really like your choice of shutter speed on this one, Alan. And the lower flow gives 3 very nice falls with the texture & color of the moss between.

Moss Glen Falls is my favorite Fall in the state of Vermont. It is located just off Rte. 100 in Granville.

This is nice - both the light and the flow to give structure to the falls. I had this lined for today as well. Will look for a different one. Mine is from spring where the flow is much heavier.

Wow!! lots of great images already and I am coming to the party late. I am going to submit two because the first might be a bit suspect although you can see the fall in the background in Avalanche Creek Gorge in Glacier National Park. The second is Bonanza Falls near Silver City in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The color of the water is from tannin which comes from the soil.

This is from Soda Dam in New Mexico, one that fits this time of year I think as it's hard tell where the ice ends and the water begins. When I first walked there my first impression was that the whole place was frozen solid. It was a nice surprise that there was still moving water.

It takes some seriously unbelievable cold to completely stop flowing water. Well below zero for extended periods of time.
