This is Lower Lewis Falls in Washington State. It can sometimes be totally consumed with logjam. Not so much on this day.

C&C welcome.
I love the little steps at the bottom of those falls. Nice to catch a small branch stuck in one of the cascades.

During mid summer the falls can be consumed with people visiting the falls and staying in the campground. It gets so overcrowded that the USFS has set up a parking reservation system that kicks in on June 15. Tickets must be purchased online in advance of visiting the falls. No ticket - no parking.

I clicked your link and read the page. You must also print the ticket you purchase and display it in your vehicle. Well that sucks, as I don't have a printer. I would think that the FOREST service could keep the process all digital and NOT have everyone printing a piece of paper for that one day and then have to throw away that paper. Isn't the point of going digital to prevent excess use of paper products? Sorry, rant is over now.o_O

Not gonna disagree. This place is going to be on my Places to Avoid(TM) list for the summer. That said if the crowds are so bad they need something like this I'm not sure I want to go there anyway......

I made the mistake of going to the Lower Lewis River Falls in early April. Never saw a single car or a human between Cougar WA and the falls all morning. One issue was that the Forest Service didnt start removing the fallen trees until mid month. I also messed up taking my sedan instead of the SUV. We had a terrific time though.

Lots of roads in the higher elevations of the Gifford Pinchot NF aren't usually open in early April most years due to snow cover and scenes like the one you posted above.
