Western diamondback rattlesnakes Crotalus atrox) have many names (including Arizona diamond rattlesnake, desert diamond-back, buzz tail, Texan rattlesnake, Texas diamond-back, and Texas rattler. They are responsible for most snake bites in the US and Mexico.

The flicking tongue helps the snake detect odor molecules to identify the threat or the pray.
