When Badwater Turned Good

It almost always pays to stick around. Once in a while the clouds win out, but most times, it seems the sun always manages to find a way to put a little color in the clouds.

This is Badwater Basin in Death Valley from a few days ago. I wanted to take advantage of the temporary Badwater Lake that had formed from the unseasonable rains a month earlier.

A 3 image landscape format pano. I was shooting at 16mm with my 16-35mm on the Nikon D850.

The view here is to the West. And it covers I would say close to 180 degrees from North to South.

All comments are welcome,

Jim

Glad you stuck around for this one. Wonderful color show and good reflections off of the bad water. Not how I usually envision sunsets at that location.

I have been to Badwater Basin countless times, and the Lake really is to completely different then normal. But it's really kind of cool.

That's nice Jim. The super wideness of this view makes the entire Panamint Range seem so diminutive.

Thanks Jeffrey. It's fun, it sure does shrink it down. I do have some individual images I will process and post where the Panamint's seem a bit more prominent.
