When the Alarm Goes Off Too Early

From last week when one of the Oriental Poppies in our garden started to open up. The petals were still kind of scrunched up like someone needed to iron the leaves so they would be presentable. I liked the view and the light so grabbed a shot.

Very interesting looking flower.

Btw, I saw some images posted from OR with northern lights. I was out till late last night and when I got back home I could see some colors but the peak show was over. I did manage to grab a couple of shots. I am hoping that there is more to come tonight.

Thanks Jameel - I did poke my head out last night but couldn’t make out any colors. There is quite a bit of light pollut8n where I live so that didn’t surprise me. I might try sending my drone up tonight to see if maybe I can get above things a bit.

Thanks Jeffrey - I did poke my head out last night but nothing to see in the air this far south.
It was reported all the way down to California and also Florida. But unless you took a photo you weren't going to see it unless you recognized the shapes.

I don't think any of you Washington State guys captured it? Getting it with Mt Rainier or Mt St Helens would been really sweet I think.

And your Oriental Poppie is a new one to me I think. It certainly looks different. It's a really sweet looking flower.

I was out looking last night but there was far too much light pollution in my area to see anything. I was kind of hoping for a nice show where I could send my drone up for a St. Helens shot but I didn't even see a trace of the lights.

Thanks - they do keep a sort of wrinkled look even after they are fully open. My first thought with this bloom was that it looked like someone who slept in their clothes with the over the top wrinkled petals.
