Windy Sunset

Was up on the Blue Ridge parkway and trying to get sunset pics. The wind was blowing so hard, I was nervous about opening the door as depending upon what direction I pointed the car, I was afraid the wind would take the door and snap it off. It was the windiest conditions I have ever been in. Anyway, took this pic that night. Note the foreground grass in the wind, lol....

Hey Stephen,

That looks pretty cool! Good job on the sun and working a sunstar out of it.

I have been in windy conditions like that before along Big Sur, and I did have it grab the door and totally bend it the opposite direction. It didn't break off but the hinges were all bent, and after finally getting loosening the hinges I could get the door mostly in place, having to tie it so it would stay closed. Had to enter through the passenger door the rest of that trip....

Agree with Ben - nice takeaway from the session. The layering of the ridge lines heading off to the horizon keeps my attention.

Great job keeping the foreground in focus with that wind. Fantastic capture of an exceptional sunset. I love that area, thanks for bringing me back there emotionally!
