Winged Wednesday – 09/16/26

This week I’m back to insects as the fall is coming fast and there may soon be no more insects for many months.
All of these were taken in my yard on a warm afternoon, following a few days of cool rainy weather. It seemed the insects were very busy gathering food.

This Spur-throated Grasshopper seemed quite content to just sit on a branch of this plant as I poked my camera into its space.

I thought the colour of this Narrow-headed Marsh fly and the blue flowers made a nice combination.

This Furrow Bee was also busy in the flowers.

A 3 shot burst of a hovering Kestrel. Strangely we both( America Europe) have birds called Kestrels but they are completely different species. I now have a Sony 200-600mm so you may see more bird images. Ken

That is a great photo Eric. Looks like it takes a lot of coordination to even get a drink.
