It’s Winged Wednesday, where feathers, flutters, and flight steal the show! Whether they’re soaring, hovering, gliding, or simply posing where the light is best, we want to see your favorite winged wonders. Birds, bugs, bats, butterflies, dragonflies, or anything else with wings—if it flies, it qualifies.
Eric is unavailable for a few weeks and asked if I would step in to start off Winged-Wednesday, so here goes!
For this week I’m posting photos of birds at feeders. Some of these, I have only seen once at my feeder and others are common visitors.
This is a female Red Crossbill, with a bill suited to picking evergreen cones apart. However she spent some time trying to pick up seeds at the feeder.
A male Rose-breasted Grosbeak was unusual at my feeder.
This was the only time I have seen a Pine Siskin at my feeder.
Now this is a much more common sight. This is a male House Sparrow. I have counted up to 30 at the feeder at one time.
Three Blue Jays were taking turns eating the whole peanuts from the feeder.
