It’s Winged Wednesday, where feathers, flutters, and flight steal the show! Whether they’re zipping, swooping, sunbathing, or just striking a sassy pose, we want to see your favorite winged wonders. Birds, bugs, bats, or butterflies—if it’s got wings, it’s fair game!
My contribution this week: Birds with Crests.
Some birds appear to have spent extra time in front of the mirror admiring the topknot.
A crest can signal mood, attract attention, impress a mate, or simply make a bird look like it woke up fabulous and decided to keep going.
A few are sleek and elegant. A few look permanently startled. And a few seem to be wearing feathers styled by a very creative barber with no fear of overdoing it.
Sulphur-crested Cockatoo — nature’s caution against subtlety.
Peacock hen—The sensible side of the peafowl family.
Buffy Helmetcrest — because the name alone deserves a standing ovation.
Crested Tern—Windblown elegance with a fishing license.
Tufted Puffin—Half seabird, half rock star, fully committed to the hairstyle.
