Winged Wednesday — March 25, 2025: Open Theme

It’s Winged Wednesday—where feathers, flutters, and flight steal the show! Whether they’re soaring, skimming, stalking, or striking a pose… birds, bugs, bats, insects, or even airplanes—if it has wings, we want to see it. If it’s got wings, it belongs here.

Always an open theme — all winged photos welcome.

My contributions this week are five photos of birds I photographed this past few weeks.

Next week, for April Fools’ Day, I’ll be posting birds that seem like a joke.

Common raven-06787-newest.jpg

Common Raven:
Announcing absolutely nothing—with great authority.

Black-throated sparrow-3342-Edit.jpg

Black-throated Sparrow:
This is what confidence looks like when it weighs less than an ounce.

Canyon wren-08943-Edit.jpg

Canyon Wren:
Singing like the canyon personally asked for it.

Rufus-crowned sparrow-07765-Edit.png

Rufous-crowned Sparrow: (yard photo)
Earth-toned and understated, blending in perfectly until it decides not to.

Green-tailed Towhee-01843-Edit.jpg

Green-tailed Towhee: (yard photo)
If chaos had legs and a beak, it would look exactly like this.

Love those shots Eric. That Canyon Wren might be my favourite. Looks like a good week for you and birding.
I am visiting my daughter in Slocan B.C. for a few days so will ditto your birds from this week theme.
Well actually these are all from today.

On my walk I saw a flock of 17 Wild Turkeys on their rounds in the neighbourhood.
