Winged Wednesday 2-15-2022

I'll start today's "Winged Wednesday" with bird photos. (What else?) In my experience, bufflehead ducks are very difficult to photograph. They're very shy and unapproachable. Bright whites and dark blacks like the feathers of a bufflehead require a bright overcast day to capture feather details. And thirdly, they are very fast. I have three Bufflehead photos taken yesterday to share.

I like colorful birds, so my favorites are warblers and ducks. I'm doing ducks today. Like Eric said above they are best photographed in nice even light in order to show their beautiful plumage.

From my day on the beach, a Sanderling running along. I wasn't brave enough to swap lenses on a sandy beach with a strong wind blowing so these are taken at 105mm. Ken

Love these little sprinters. Superb work, Ken. I wouldn't call you scared, I would call you smart for protecting your gear from sandy windy weather.

WOW! I'm thinking you should be in charge of "Winged Wednesday." Three great shots. I assume you know the birds. In case not, two American avocets, Northern harrier female (marsh hawk), Sandhill crane. BTW, that's the best portrait of a Northern Harrier I've ever seen
