Winged Wednesday 2019/6/26

For week two of Winged Wednesday I selected a 100mm macro, flash, night photo of a Rosy Maple Moth (Dryocampa rubicunda). These little colorful moths usually go unnoticed because they’re small and only active at night during a two-month brood. A brood refers to the newly hatched butterflies dispersing into their deciduous forest habitat.
Rosy Maple Moth are about an inch long with wingspan between one and two inches. Caterpillars feed on maple leave and adults don’t eat. Hope you like the macro.

Here is one of red - tailed hawk taken a few years back at our farm in S.C. Saw the nest high up in a pine tree and waited down in the bottoms pasture one day for long time to get the shot.
