While Eric went for green as a theme I am going for blue with some echinops that are now in bloom in my yard. This is a shot of a bee checking out the goodies on one of the blooms.

edit: I fixed Eric's date.
Thanks for fixing the date and thanks for the bee-utiful bee on echinops blossom which is quite different than echinopsis blossoms (Hedgehog cactus)

Lots of great shots today. I have some insects images that I took this afternoon while they were pollinating my milkweed plant.

I'm still waiting for an ID but I think it could be some type of Resin Bee.

Although reviled by many I love the colour combinations on Yellowjackets.

My bee is not worthy compared to yours. How close to these subjects are you shooting from with the macro lens?

Thanks Alan... This lens will focus as close as a couple of inches with a 2x magnification. The tricky part is having the insect stay still enough and the plant not moving in the wind. It was breezy this afternoon so i had to wait in between gusts. There were other bees that just would not sit still long enough for a shot. I think these three were the only keepers out of about 100 shots.
Now if I only had your skill in shoot landscapes and gardens.... Maybe some day.

As a comparison my shot of the bee above was at just under 8 feet away with 330mm focal length. No surprise over why yours is so much more detailed with the much closer view. The nice part about digital is that tossing 97 shots for three like this costs nothing
