I perhaps should have embraced the almost full moon sooner. I had spent an hour composing so that it was just out of the frame, and by the time I had decided to include it there was a rather large cloud on the one side. But still, the end result seemed pretty cool.

This was out at Joshua Tree last week during the rare snow storm. This is about 4am and one of the last shots before I headed over to Arch Rock to shoot it with the snow and stars.

This is with the Sigma 14mm f1.8 at f16 to create the moonstar, and then it was 20 secs at ISO 3200.

There's almost an eery mood to this scene with the blue light of the moon. I like the presence of the clouds in this comp and the long shutter motion feathers the edges nicely.

Thanks Alan. There is a whole world to explore once the sun sets if we just stay up or get up to explore it. :)

Good choice to shoot the moon as a star rather than try to get a detailed moon as it would be too small with a wide angle, This comes ovee very cool.
