I think this ended up being my favorite image from a recent trip to Bodie. Taken in the kitchen at the Wheaton Hotel. Bodie State Park, 10-13-22

I like the string holding it up in the upper right. You could almost say its an illuminating insight into daily life in olde Bodie.

There are lights in the old store that have been on since before it became a park around 1960 or so. Old timers. They were still lit when I was there a few weeks ago.

Bodie looks like a totally undisturbed slice of time but not all is what it seems. I have images from the general store where you can easily see the modern fire alarm system mounted on the ceiling. The park conservators do a pretty good job of making sure everything looks undisturbed in spite of maintenance tasks.

Love this Kurt! It's amazing how B&W can sometimes make uninteresting things interesting. I don't think this would have the same impact in color, so good thinking on going with B&W.

Thanks, Jim. I had my fingers crossed when I took this - the color version definitely wouldn't work.
