Wooden bowl

Help me out here if this is not the place to post pictures of personal creations.
Besides photography I do a lot of woodworking and recently was given a piece of Yew log and asked if I would make a couple of bowls (turned on a lathe).
I loved the texture and shape of the outside of the tree when the bark was removed so chose to hollow the middle out and create one bowl.

Very nice - I like this piece of wood and how you shaped this. What did you do to work the outside surface of the log after you removed the bark?

Nice to know there is someone else on here that likes to make sawdust :) I mostly make furniture and cabinets.

I posted some images on the Sit and Chat forum a while back with the same questions you had about where to post threads like this.

Looks great! Love the history of yew and its use in helping make England a world power with their legendary longbows.

Thanks Alan.. I use a micro motor tool with various bits and rotary discs to remove the debris from the crevices.

I would say this is the perfect forum for this as I think this qualifies as still life. Though as Alan said, Sit and Chat is for just general chatting and sharing so it could work too. But you photographed the bowl so well, that I think it qualifies as a Still Life image.

Now, I want to say this is really cool and very interesting. I haven't carved anything in wood in quite a few years, but when I was younger I used to find a piece of wood when our camping and carve out spoons, or plaques. Never did a bowl though.

Please share more of your wood carvings as I know I find them interesting and I am sure others do too
