Yehliu Geopark

On our final full day in Taiwan, we joined a tour group that would take us around different locations outside of Taipei. The first stop was Yehliu Geopark on the northern coast of the island.

This peninsula features fascinating geologic features that remind me of hoodoos. We only had about an hour to wander around, which makes for a challenging test of you want to do some photography without crowds of tourists in the frame.

All 3 of these shots were taken with the iPhone 15 pro max.

These formations look an awful lot like what can be seen along the Oregon coast at a couple of state parks known as Shore Acres and Cape Arago. If your trip had overlapped with some serious ocean swells there might have been waves crashing right over these rock formations. Fun sight - a place I have never seen images of before.

Thanks, Alan. From the little I saw of Taiwan’s coastline, it reminded me a little bit of California. But of course, someday I’ll have to dedicate a whole trip just for Oregon.

as for Yehliu, I’d love to go there at dawn to get sunrise light on these formations without the crowds!
