Thanks !
I cheated for DoF - stepped back to about 8' away and yanked out my 100-400mm. This was shot at 300mm.
The tiny patch of sunlight gave me almost perfect isolation of the bloom. The ground behind was in shade. It always seems counterintuitive to back off for closeups but it does allow a lot more DoF for a scene like this than trying to focus up close. Guess that's not really cheating
That's a gorgeous photo, Alan. Exquisite details!A small patch of sunlight highlighting a trillium bloom along the Redwood Nature Trail near Brookings. Out of a 2 mile trail a small cluster of these were the only forest floor blooms I saw and the sunlight on this bloom only lasted for a minute or so before it was back in the shade.
C&C always welcome.
