American Basin

I met up with Jim Fox over the last couple of days in American Basin. While we didn't get epic skies or amazing, endless carpets of wildflowers, it was still a nice place to hang out.

Nice scenic location. Never been there but can inagine the possibilities. The cloudy skies works well giving the soft light for the wildflowers.

It's regular 2wd from Lake City until a bit after the turn off, then regular 4x4 for most of the rest of it. High clearance the last 1/4 mile or so. You should be able to get your truck in there just fine.

Very nicely done, Monika. Clouds like these are the best friend of those that photograph flower landscapes. You have nice even light with no distractions and it looks like you had no wind to speak of.

It was pretty calm, though when I looked at a vertical pano series I took, all the foreground flowers were blowing around too much to bother with. That was a little later from farther up the valley, too.
