A Rare Prairie Orchid.

These two orchids growing side by side are Prairie White Fringed Orchids. These are relatively rare and it is unusual to find them growing side by side. In several decades of photographing prairies I have only seen this once.

Thanks, Monika. These are not only beautiful, their scent, which is exaggerated in the evening and at night to attract moths which pollinate them, is as fragrant as jasmine.
