I was taking a shot of the sun today and looking through the video I saw an aircraft fly through. It doesn't look like a passenger plane. It showed up in two frames so I pieced the two frames together. I also took a closeup of some prominences. I forgot I did one with the surface detail also.

Wow! Amazing work Chuck!

That's so cool you caught a plane flying in front of it. One day I would just like to do that with the moon, never mind how mind boggling it would be to get it with the sun!

And your #3 image with those prominences is really sweet! Such awesome detail.

When you are composing a shot like #3, are you able to see what we are seeing here through your camera/laptop?

Thanks Jim, yes you can see the prominences and surface granulation through the eyepiece. Looking at the computer screen can be tricky. It all depends on how bright the proms. are. Most of the time you adjust the exposures to see one or the other. Some people combine both images to see both in a picture. I combine sometimes if the proms are faint. You can bring out both by using shadows and highlights in Photoshop if condition are right. The black area is done in Photoshop .

Chuck,

Aircraft capture is very fun - I agree, does not look like an airliner. The prominences are nicely showing on all frames, but the final detail shot is especially pleasing!

The full disc is with the aircraft is only one frame each. I added another shot with the surface detail.
