My contribution for today's Wing Wednesday are wrens found in Arizona, Maybe I should call it Wing Wrensday. Spoiler, Next week's theme for me will be birds that are blue.

Stunning images Eric our Wrens in the UK look a lot like Marsh Wrens. Much as I admire images of exotic birds there is something special about lovely images of ordinary looking birds. I am torn between buying a very long lens and going off to practice for a very long time and giving up trying to photograph birds as I will never get to be this good, or close to it, meanwhile I will just admire your skill and beautiful images. Ken

Beautiful little birds Eric - I love some of the perching poses they take on with their legs splayed out like the Marsh Wren and the Bewick Wren.

My contribution for today are some shots of a male Anna's hummingbird demonstrating that they are a far cry from delicate little birds. We got a pretty good shot of winter over this last weekend that started out with somewhere between 12-14" of snow followed up by freezing rain. I posted some images of a couple of these hummers guarding 2 of our 4 feeders this weekend and this is one guarding another of them near our front deck. The first image is about an hour after the freezing rain started:

This next one was taken the next morning after the freezing rain had stopped. I am getting a lot of eye contact in both of these images because I am standing right next to the feeder he is keeping tabs on. He will chase off any other hummers who try to use "his" feeder.

That is a really "cool" Anna's Hummingbird. Alan. I love the ice on the branches.

Nice images. Can't wait for migration to be on the way... I find the chestnut-sided warblers to be such hams. They seem to come to the front and pose a lot compare to many of the other warblers.
