M81 and 82 in HaRGB

This is my first long project galaxy image totaling in 30 hrs, shot this past week.

I could have really stretched it to show more of the IFN but choose to keep it cleaner and hold the back ground back a bit.
Really digging ha in this one, especially in M 82, (lower right).

Camera~ asi 1600mm

This is super cool, I like the blooming color around the Cigar Galaxy. And the detail in Bodes is pretty special I think. I am just using a regular DSLR and the red specs in the arms (not sure what they are) is great, and I rarely get them in mine. A few might show up, but not like this.

30 hours of data? That's awesome! I think I get too impatient. I have only been doing Astro for a year now, so I am maybe too excited? I tend to get 1 hour max of detail before I move on to another object in the night sky.

Love this galaxy pair - probably the best in the northern skies anyway. Those long integration times have brought out lots of great color and detail in this, very nice capture!

Ah, target fever! i still have a touch of it..lol. I shot 8 hrs of Ha data so your seeing the results of giant hydrogen filaments streaming out of M82. M81 also has lots of ha pockets in it as well. I too started with a dslr (canon xsi) it was a great place to start but nothing beats mono imaging!

Thanks! I also picked up some of the IFN, but revealing it would have destroyed the subtle details of the galaxies so I held it back.

Hey, that's great to know you started out there too!

My current setup is:
Nikon D850
Tamron 150-600mm
SkyGuider Pro

I am hoping to upgrade each of those over the next 2 years. I was going to upgrade the SkyGuider Pro to one of the new iOptron mounts, the Cem26 or Gem28. And that's still going to happen I hope by summer. But right now I am thinking I will send a Nikon D810 in to LifePixel and get it converted to Astro so I can better pick up the HA. I don't do too bad with the D850, it seems pretty sensitive to HA, but the last 2 times I went out, even though I was in Bortle 3 skies, I have struggled getting the HA details from it. Now I had shot those same DSO's last year without a hitch, but now I am struggling for some reason. So I think maybe upgrading my D810 to Astro would be of a good benefit. I also shoot Milky Way a lot. If you look in our Video section I have some Milky Way and night time timelapses in there, and I have a timelapse of the night sky with the tail of the Milky Way I am working on now. So even when I one day upgrade to a Mono camera, the D810 won't be wasted because I will still be able to use it with the Milky Way.
