This image was taken in the Rockland Maine area. I pictured the shot in my mind with three ships and the lighthouse all in the same shot. I yelled at the operator of the boat we were in until the shot was lined up The I stood up in the rocking boat and hoped I had a fast enough shutter speed and a small enough aperture to get all in focus Took 3 quick shots. The sky was blown out and I had to darken it. This turned the sails from white canvas to what your see. My long time college friend and resident of Camden (the boat driver we were in) did not like the dark sails vs the actual white. But I like the image the way it is. The ship was built in 1985 by the owner and captain. He takes up to about 15 persons out for as much as much as a week. There is even a small shower in the boat. I hear he just retired and sold the business.
