Last of Fall in the park

This is a local venue, Alum Rock Park. I was there doing a family photo shoot, when I saw this on the way out.
Shot with the Mamiya 7 on Ektar. Negative was processed with a Sony A7R instead of a scanner.

Interesting processing mode. I assume you meant the processed negative was scanned after processing.

Nice scene but the details are quite soft. Was this an intentional effect with this method of digitizing the image?

Hey Dan,

I like the pathway in this. The composition looks great, but I am wanting some more detail in the shadows. Not sure if that's possible, but I think even 20% more shadow detail would add to this.

Alan, can't blame the softness on the digitizing. If anything on a good negative, the results are better than scanning.
I knew that lens flare was an issue & tried the hand-blocking method.
The resultant neg had noticeable loss of contrast in the upper third that I tried to mitigate in processing
Thinking about it more, I do think I missed critical focus by about a foot. By that I mean the hyper-focal.
I was guessing at the distance. Time to get more disciplined!
I do have two other different scenes will post that I got the focus right.
Thanks for the honest-straight up critique

Jim, I do have another exposure that was about 1/2 stop better on the shadows.
The other thing I can do is play with the digitizing for more detail
But neither will fix the flare & OOF faults.
The good news, I can return here next Fall as it's just down the road!

Thanks

Dan
