Northern Lights at Split Rock Lighthouse #3

Last month I was fortunate enough to be able capture the Northern Lights, the Aurora up at Split Rock Lighthouse along the North Shore Drive of Lake Superior in Minnesota. This was my 3rd camera I had set up. I went vertical with this one because of all of the action in the sky. I didn't think the Horizontal cameras were able to capture all of that coolness. :) So for video's, Horizontal is my choice, but there was no way to avoid going vertical if I wanted to catch the action in the upper sky.

All comments are welcome,

Jim

Great TL Jim, awesome that you were able to get the northern lights.
I appreciate that Ben! It was so awesome to finally capture it! I will be watching the Aurora warnings closely when I am in Colorado this winter, maybe I can get back up there and catch some more.

Interesting how well the clouds and the ground lights end up enhancing the aurora light show. My initial thoughts were that the clouds would wreck the show but they don't.

I totally get that too. I would have thought the same. I guess if it was a total cloud cover then that would ruin the show, but since I had fortunate to have this window in the storm for 3 or 4 hours, the clouds did enhance. I know I love how the greens especially are reflecting off a lot of those lower moving clouds.
