Dream of Ducks

There is a local pond here in SoCal that has a lot of ducks in it, and I had been wanting to video it for a while. I have tried a couple of times with my DSLR and then my GoPro but just was never happy. Now that I have the DJI OM 5 Gimbal for the iPhone, I went to try it again. Using the Gimbal and the iPhone is like night and day better. I was so happy with the results.

So sit back and relax with this video, don't fall asleep too soon or you will miss the photobombing turtle.

Hard to find the turtle, must have been shy. I did figure it out, good thing you gave us a hint. That gimbal works pretty well.

The gimbal works quite well for a scene like this and panning around the scene is quite smooth. Did you use any of the tracking features of the OM 5 or just handheld panning?

I appreciate that Alan. I didn't use any tracking features, but it did actually feel like once it realized that I was following a duck that it did try to track it. A couple of times it seemed like it was tracking on it's own. So that was interesting. Not sure if that was in my head, or if it actually was.

When its actually tracking something you can move your hand holding the gimbal around and the gimbal will swivel the camera to stay focused on the tracked target. You don't have to be actively shooting video to test the tracking motion.

Yep, that's what I thought it was doing on it's own a few times. Unless... I just imagined it....
