Goldfinch in the Maple

I've had quite a bit of fun this winter taking pictures of birds coming to our feeder. I originally thought this was a yellow finch but after looking at more images I believe it's an American Goldfinch. Both males and females wear these relatively drab colors in winter, but come spring the male turns brilliant yellow. I was pleasantly surprised to capture this one about to take off from the nearby maple tree toward the feeder. My sister requested a print so I ordered an 8 x 10 and framed it with a mat and am very pleased with how it came out.

Beautiful and well done!!!! I love the processing you did to it.

It looks like the bird is posing to be an hood ornament.

I really like how this came out Amy! And great timing!

Are you able to photograph it from inside your house? Or were you outside in the cold?

Thanks Jim, glad you like it. I had my tripod set up inside and took it through the window pane. It was cold that day and I wasn't feeling well, otherwise I might have gotten outside.
