Hard to believe, but today is the first time this year I went out for photos. I have done a lot of copy work, but no outside photography. So I went out early this morning and got a few images of my favorite spots on the American Fork River.

The water is still pretty low and no green and in fact a few patches of snow remain. I tried out my new 35mm Macro lens for one of the shots and was very pleased.

1, 35mm macro lens.

Wow Ben! That is crazy to think that these are your first photos of the year! I have over 2tb of photos so far this year, so I am trying to wrap my mind about you not having gone out until now. :(

But... I will say you started the year with a bang as these look really great! My favorite is #2, that one really jumps out. The other 2 are really nice with #1 being my next favorite.

Now, I do really like the criss/cross pattern in #3, but I would say to crop a bunch off the top to lose all of the bare branches. Crop right above that rock sitting on that upper ledge I think.

Also, thinking some more. How about a tighter crop on #1, lose that space on the right. Then convert to B&W and add a slight vignette around the whole image. :)

Very nice set. Some great "pour over" falls.
You do realize, you're using up your Wed inventory 🤣
I have a ton of water images, so I am not worried yet.

Thanks Jim, I just hate winter, and while I usually force myself to get out a few times, as I get older it takes more force, this year I did not try. I would have been out earlier but had truck problems.

I will have a look at these suggestions Jim, thanks.

Nice set Ben. I like Jim's suggestion of a crop (strange coming from someone who doesn't like to crop :). The second one is nice as well.

I like the looks of these shots and the crop does feel a little better at least for my eyes.

Nice to hear your winter is winding down and you can get out again. The backroads are likely still quite muddy and I am guessing the high country still has snow given how low the water levels are.

Ben, the cropped version is better (to my eyes), viewers' eyes are attracted to the water flow.

Thanks Oliver. Worth the crop.

Thanks Alan. yes winter is winding down, but snow is forecast tomorrow. I can't wait to have camping weather.

Ben, love all three images, your third image’s composition, in particular is striking with the protruding rock on the upper left. Just now saw the cropped edit and like them both but still prefer the original. The first image’s composition with the darker background works well with flowing water in the foreground—beautiful scene too.
