Thanks Alan!Nice clean image of this planet.
Ben, that gap is the shadow of Saturn.Beautiful work here what’s the gap between the ring and the planet upper left?
If I only had a Celestron 14 but this 9.25 does a fantastic job and it is easy to handle. Look up some shots taken with the 14" scope you will be amazed.Wow Chuck! You knocked it out of the park with this one. I would say this is one of the cleanest images of Saturn that I have seen.
You are going to have me putting an HD Edge on my Christmas wish list at this point!
Thank you Jim!
I will look those up with the 14"If I only had a Celestron 14 but this 9.25 does a fantastic job and it is easy to handle. Look up some shots taken with the 14" scope you will be amazed.
Thank you John!Wow! Incredible image.
The 8" edge is a good scope also. Flat field all the ways across. I use a 50mm Orion guide scope and camera but I have a good mount. At 2000mm it is pretty tough to guide. I use a 0.7 reducer when I do deep sky. For planetary imaging if you live where the jet stream is forget the planets the seeing will be bad.I will look those up with the 14"
I was thinking about the 8" Edge HD. Not as much reach, but it's probably all I could afford, plus the weight of it.
Do you need to use a different guide scope when using these larger scopes?
Thanks Mike, yes I used the 2.5 powermate. I have a Moolite focuser on mine and use a hand controlled motor to focus. Here is a pic of my focuser. This focuser was designed for the Lepus reducer. I now have the dedicated 0.7 reducer. That is fantastic! cannot wait to try this on my Edge 9.25 once it is finally set up and ready to go. So you are saying you used a 2.5x barlow (Powermate?) to get this?
ML
Congrats !
Thank you Carlos!Congrats !
Chuck, beautiful clean shot, love it.It finally cleared up to get a second shot of Saturn. The seeing was very good and the transparency was very good for florida standards. I used the celestron 9.25 Edge and a 2.5 Powermate, ASI224mc camera. View attachment 52481
