Thursday’s Task: Lone tree in landscape. My examples below:
Colorado National Monument, CO
Bryce Canyon National Park, UT
Monument Valley Tribal Park, AZ
I’m sure you have many excellent examples!Neat series, now I need to find one of mine.
Perhaps you could crop an image…or use a chainsaw!Fun set - and almost a shock to my brain after a day of wandering around in the Oregon coastal rain forests
I don't have anything that fits this with me out on the road but I will look around in my gallery shots to see what I can find.
Ben, I knew you had some great images for this Task! Love all three especially the second!1. Wasatch mountains

Crop? Have you ever visited a coastal temperate rainforest? Chainsaw? Even worse - I'd be on a wanted list in OregonPerhaps you could crop an image…or use a chainsaw!
Trent, very unique image for the task—great idea and image. Here is one that kind of fits the lone tree suggestion. It tells a different story about beaver activity as well.

Alan, I like all three of these non-rain forest images—especially the John Day Fossil Bed image and your second Arches image. Well done!Crop? Have you ever visited a coastal temperate rainforest? Chainsaw? Even worse - I'd be on a wanted list in Oregon
The forests I was in today were dark enough to require ISO 2000 to be able to handhold my camera for shots and a few went up to ISO 4000. I was using a shutter speed of 1/80 @f/10.
Here are a few from more arid environments with far fewer trees in the scenes. I am fudging a bit since there are more trees in the frame.

A beautiful series of a prominent tree in the landscape. I especially love the first and last images—excellent examples Dan!
Some ladder you’ve got! Nice drone shot and very humorous reply! (Your vehicle?)Just to add a contrary shot from yesterday from 300' above Klickitat Ridge Rd. in the Siuslaw National Forest. From the ground all I could see was tree trunks and I had to climb to 150' to clear the tree tops.

Yes my truck - this flight was straight up and straight down once I got my shots. I did shoot around for the 360º view and a few pano sequences as well. There are no panoramic viewpoints driving around in our forests unless you come to the edge of a clear cut. You can drive up a long road to a peak and the view is ..... tree trunks. Just like the whole drive there. This is one of the reasons I bought a drone - so I can go up and enjoy the view for onceSome ladder you’ve got! Nice drone shot and very humorous reply!
