Thursday’s Task

Fun set - and almost a shock to my brain after a day of wandering around in the Oregon coastal rain forests 😁

I don't have anything that fits this with me out on the road but I will look around in my gallery shots to see what I can find.

Hey John! I think I have some shots of a couple of those same trees! :)

I like your images of the Lone Tree. I will have to see what I can find with my limited hard drives here in Colorado.

Perhaps you could crop an image…or use a chainsaw!

Crop? Have you ever visited a coastal temperate rainforest? Chainsaw? Even worse - I'd be on a wanted list in Oregon 😁
The forests I was in today were dark enough to require ISO 2000 to be able to handhold my camera for shots and a few went up to ISO 4000. I was using a shutter speed of 1/80 @f/10.

Here are a few from more arid environments with far fewer trees in the scenes. I am fudging a bit since there are more trees in the frame.

Alan, I like all three of these non-rain forest images—especially the John Day Fossil Bed image and your second Arches image. Well done!

Some ladder you’ve got! Nice drone shot and very humorous reply! (Your vehicle?)
Yes my truck - this flight was straight up and straight down once I got my shots. I did shoot around for the 360º view and a few pano sequences as well. There are no panoramic viewpoints driving around in our forests unless you come to the edge of a clear cut. You can drive up a long road to a peak and the view is ..... tree trunks. Just like the whole drive there. This is one of the reasons I bought a drone - so I can go up and enjoy the view for once :)
