Castle Valley in the Snow

Before my road trip, I had never heard of Castle Valley near Moab. @MonikaC posted some excellent photos of her hike in Castle Valley a couple months ago, which inspired me to look up the location and explore the area.

Like Canyonlands, I attempted to go to Castle Valley twice. The first day it was actively snowing in the valley, so I decided to go back to Moab for the night. The next day was sunny, so I was able to get into the valley. I was the only person on the road here and never encountered another car. My car was stopped in the middle of the road while I took photos. I'm glad I took the side trip here.

Awesome images Michael. The snow really brings out the stripes in the rocks. The wider view in #1 sets up the location nicely, my favorites are the tighter views in #2 and 3. The blue sky works well here to contrast with the white and the red.

Looks like a nice day to be out there - especially if you had the place to yourself. All three images are quite nice but #3 in particular keeps my attention longer.
