Waterfall Wednesday 1/10/18

Happy Wednesday.

Another Wednesday another round of waterfalls. I have two images of one set of falls for today since as it turns out there is no single vantage point to see the 4 levels of the falls named Sweet Creek Falls. You actually have to hike two different trails to see the full set of cascades. I hiked the east side of the creek up to these falls in early December and last week came back down from the other side of the creek to get the primary view. The first image is a TS-E pano of what you can see from the east side of the creek or down in the water itself. From this viewpoint you cannot see the upper portions of the falls well enough for a photo.

If you look very carefully there is a set of wood guardrails on the hillside above the vivid patch of moss just to the right of the falls. That's the viewpoint for the other trail. From what I have read it's well that I visited in the winter since there is a lot of vegetation blocking the view in the summer. This image is also a 2 shot stitch using my TS-E lens. The bare branches are notable so it's easy to see how you view would get blocked.

Beautiful again, Alan (of course!)
I think I have about a month of waterfalls left. This one is from Yellowstone. I went in August a handful of years ago. I knew it'd be crowded, but hadn't anticipated the number of bikers going to Sturgis. If I were a street photographer, I'd have had a heyday! Everyone from Asian tourists, Amish, middle America to gnarly looking Harley bikers (all in black leathers except one girl in sparkly pink!) all gathered at Old Faithful. Pretty cool.

Havasu Creek- It was tough lugging a 4x5 at the bottom of the Canyon.

I'm a recent migrant from Fred Miranda; you may remember me from there as dsjtecserv. Is this a recurring thread for waterfalls every Wednesday? If so I may add some when I get home. Waterfalls from anywhere, or any time, right?

Hey Dave! It's great to have you here.

Yes, every Wednesday Alan starts this thread as we seem to have a lot of us who love waterfalls. :)

So yeah, that would be awesome to have you add yours into the thread when you get home later, I definitely look forward to your addition.

Also as a heads up, on Friday we do another community thread where I will start a thread with a different landscape theme and every can pile in with their photos. We have done Grand Canyon for example in the past or recently we did a clouds theme. So there is no telling what I will choose until you log in on Friday. :)

Yep, we do this every week. Just a little bit of fun. There have been some fairly unique definitions of "waterfall" at times.

Wow!! This is getting to be a popular feature. Plenty of great images again. I was driving from Bryce Canyon back to my home in Cottonwood, AZ in a driving thunderstorm. The storm abated just as I was getting to Page, AZ and I was treated to a view of waterfalls cascading into Glen Canyon. I pulled over just before the bridge and walked on the sidewalk along the bridge to one of the small view openings they have in the cyclone fencing. I contorted my tripod so I could get my camera into the small opening and captured this image.
