Dark, moody Elgol, Isle of Skye

I like the B&W for this one Vieri. The textures on the foreground rocks works well sans color and the reflections just beyond are delightful.

Love the sky here and the overall tone and detail, I keep wanting to see more of the distant shore.

Hi Vieri,

Those rocks are so cool with all of that detail! They look like they have been sculpted.

Vieri, this is a lovely image. All of your images are well processed, composed, and have a style that is your own. You clearly like images with a dramatic sky. Here, the only nit I can pick is that looking at the reflection of clouds on the water at left, they are interesting but I am a bit concerned the puffy white clouds in part of the water are not matched in the sky. The sky seems darker with a long exposure. It looks to me like either the sky and water are from different exposures or that the sky was darkened a bit more than the reflection on the water making the water's reflection seem more prominent than the sky color might indicate. I could also be very wrong—the surface of the water with clear reflection is not very large and so I am not sure at all about the observation. There is something in the reflection that bothers my eye a bit and I am hypothesizing what it might be. Please understand I admire your work and quite like this picture. I hope you don’t mind the comment.

Thank you very much Alan! Yes, when I arrived at the scene I immediately "saw" it in black & white, colours didn't add much to it anyway. Glad you enjoyed it! :)

Very neat image.
Thank you very much Ben, glad you liked it! :)

Hey Jim,

Thank you very much, glad you liked it! :) Well, in a way they have been sculpted - by nature, the greatest artist of all time!

The B&W seems perfect for bringing out those details.
Thank you very much Kyle, glad you liked the B&W choice here! :)

Very nice imaging.
Thank you very much Bob, glad you liked it! :)

Hello Luvwine, thank you for your comment, I don't mind it at all, on the contrary. At first, I couldn't see what you meant - then I finally got it. What you see, I think, is not clouds reflected in the water - it's the stones that appear in transparency under the shallow water! :) I hope this explains the "what", but that doesn't probably mean you are going to like it any better ;)

Best regards,

Vieri

Well, that explains it! Silly me. I now understand my error. In color, of course, the colors in the reflection of the pink sky or blue would have helped, but I guess I so often see reflections in water that my mind assumed that is what they were. Sorry for the confusion. Your images are always lovely. I should have known better than to think I had found a nit to pick. ;)

Great shot all round, excellent B&W treatment.
Thank you very much Jim, glad you enjoyed it and the B7W conversion! :)

No problem at all, on the contrary it was interesting - I really couldn't see what you meant at first and it took me a little to figure out what it was, so thank you for the "seeing exercise"! :)

Wonderful capture with superb b/w treatment, tones and textures.
Thank you very much indeed Mike, glad you liked it! :)

Best regards,

Vieri
