We made two treks to Abraham Lake during my recent trip to the Canadian Rockies. The first time, we arrived in the afternoon to do some scouting and planned to stick around for sunset if things looked good. They didn't (the lake was covered in snow and the overcast skies were nothing special). But we did figure out that if we wanted to see some clear ice, our best bet would be the cove south of Windy Point.
A couple of days later, the weather for sunrise looked promising and winds of 15 mph were predicted. I hoped that would be enough to clear some patches and reveal the infamous ice bubbles. We made the drive and were rewarded with some nice conditions. The wind was a blast though! I'll share more once I get to processing them, but here's the composition that I put together for sunrise. There were only a few fleeting moments when the clouds lit up behind Mount Michener and I was fortunate to catch it.
