Old Ford

There is a small antique car show that happens weekly at a local burger joint. So the surroundings are not the cleanest for photos, but the 40 or so cars there were so cool. These are shot with a Nikon D7100 and 18-200mm lens that I toss in the jeep for a run around camera.

If anyone knows the year of this Ford, please speak up. This is a cool car, back in the old days when curves were cool.

Jim

This would appear to have some issues if you needed to drive it in the rain - no wipers are attached.

That said it's unlikely this thing ever goes out under those conditions anyway :D

Always fun to see how well some of these specimens are restored. Not a task I would take on myself but they are neat to look at....

1940 I had one, a convertable. The grill says standard, but the emblem says deluxe, the deluxe had a different grill. It's possible that it's a 1939.

This is SoCal after all, it only rains like 3 days a year. So he could drive it almost all year and not have to worry about rain. :)

Thanks Ben! I was thinking 1939/1940 myself but I couldn't nail it down.

You had a 1940 convertible? Now that's really cool.

Hi Jim, I was 17 and it was a wreck when I got done with it. But it would be worth a lot these days, Same for my 1949 Cadilac with factory stick shift, or my 1960 Studebacker lark, or my Matchless Matisse. But I was glad to have the experience.

By the way, I checked it out and the grill makes yours a 1939.

I love old cars and old car shows. But I have yet to take any good photos. I'm going to use Jim's excuse and say the surrounding environment is not conducive to me taking award winning shots of those old beauties. :)

But I do love seeing them.

Nice catch, I really appreciate the purity of this time in design, also for me an amazing time for car design was 1988-1992 minimal, svelte square shapes of honda and some toyota...whats weird is curves were in, then things went curve/square in the early 80's and then in the late 80's early 90's everything was a very cool square for a while, then by 2000 everything was ruined again, now everything looks either like a squashed bug or a bmw that had sex with a llama..

Ha ha, thanks John! You know, sometimes we just have to take any excuse we can get. :)
