Jameel has generously provided this week’s subject. if I am not mistaken this is a fall sunset picture of Mount Moran from the Oxbow Bend area of Grand Teton NP.

This is a backlit situation with a DR challenge. Show me what you would do with it.

Ok, here is my version of this image, I wanted to emphasize the fall colors and the sky so I went with a warner effect.

By the way, critique of the entries along the way are most welcome and will help us all learn.

This is a good start Darcy, but for sure work on it some more, that's part of what makes this fun.

I might have to work on my version later this evening.

Darcy, I already like yours more than mine. You got more out of the sky. It's a lovely image isn't it?

Okay, a quick one before I start cutting up 2x4's and laying sheet rock today. This is a fast first pass just to think about it.

Thanks Ben. I might have to go back and add a hair more contrast to Mount Moran, but when the sun is setting there is actually less contrast on it.

I did brighten up the trees a bit separately since the indirect light I think would brighten them up a bit.

Interesting different interpretations so far. I’ll hold mine for a while.

Ben and Darcy have a very similar approach with some subtle differences. Jim coaxed a lot of color out of both the sky and reflections in the water.

Ryan has a nice sky in his though a bit darker ground layer.
